As a professional commercial photographer in West London, I’m fortunate to work with some incredibly talented local businesses across the area. One recent project that truly stands out is my collaboration with Berenice London, a bespoke wig maker run by the brilliant Petra and her dedicated team. Their artistry and craftsmanship inspired me to create a collection of images that highlight the beauty, confidence and individuality their work represents.
Capturing the Craft of Wig Making
Our collaboration took place at Petra’s studio in West London, where every wig is handmade and custom fitted to each client. The attention to detail that goes into the wig-making process is remarkable and I wanted to ensure the photography reflected that same level of precision and care.
To capture the spirit of Berenice London, I set up a portable studio on-site, complete with professional lighting and adaptable backgrounds. The setup is always space dependent but I pride myself on being able to transform any location into a professional studio environment that delivers high-quality, consistent imagery.
Over the course of three half-day sessions, I photographed a range of styles and looks. The shoot included both professional models and real clients, creating a collection that feels authentic and relatable.
It was important that the imagery represented the diversity and confidence of those who wear Berenice London wigs. Therefore, to ensure everything looked flawless, we worked with professional makeup artists, while the wigs were styled by Petra’s talented in-house stylists.
Telling a Story Through Images
Beyond product shots, I also created portraits of Petra’s team and captured moments of the wig-making process itself. These behind-the-scenes images reveal the craftsmanship and passion that go into each piece. From the meticulous stitching of individual strands to the final fitting on a client, every step tells a story worth sharing.
The final collection of photographs has been featured on Berenice London’s new website and I’m thrilled with how seamlessly the images blend with their elegant design. The project not only showcased my ability to adapt to a client’s creative environment but also reinforced the importance of collaboration between our local businesses in West London.
